My journey towards becoming an environmental wildlife artist began in my earliest memories. Always fascinated with nature, I drew and created art from what I then believed to be the otherness of the natural world.
Now my paintings more than an ornithological or zoological retelling, conveying a deeper observation of the complex linkages between nature and humanity and the interconnectedness that is essential for our ongoing
survival in the Anthropocene period. Environmental protection is the compelling inspiration for my art.
I consider the majority of my paintings to be portraits, presenting the image as an encounter which evokes questions and thoughts rather than simple observation.
I prefer painting in oils, utilising the texture and flexibility to create art that resonates with life and intensity. My work is created with a limited palette that leaves space for emotion and contemplation.
