Painting in silence, the exercise for me is to find silence. The subject for me is silence.

A glimpse, or aspect of light usually inspires a work, importantly sketches are made and snaps for the light. Often a location is visited several times. Hours are spent in developing a composition, it’s a process of refinement; sometimes a study is painted. Work begins on linen or marine plywood with charcoal, again seeking refinement. Balance and harmony are important.

I wish that the folk who purchase my works find increasing enjoyment in them. I watch the whole evolution of the painting, finding beauty. I believe beauty cannot be owned or claimed, it is merely discovered and passed on. I think I am most fortunate to partake in the phenomenon.
