Susan Bleakley

Art and the love of nature have always been an important part of my life from working as a fashion illustrator to painting landscapes and portraits.

Sculpture allowed me to pursue new challenges, building the human form in clay and casting in bronze using the lost-wax process. The practice of sculpting helped me to achieve more depth in my paintings.

I paint with acrylics and watercolours. Each medium requires a very different approach. My style is not strictly representational. I like to live with my work for a time and make subtle changes before consideration of sale.

Since moving to Hobart, the natural beauty and ever-changing light and mood of the Tasmanian landscape have been my inspiration.
