My paintings celebrate the unique beauty and drama of Tasmanian landscapes. I’m fascinated by how the landscapes around me seem monumental and unchanging, yet always present me with new perspectives whenever I’m amongst them, offering an endless source of inspiration.
I also like to explore how the painting process transforms its subject. My finished paintings never show the landscape which initially inspired them but a new landscape formed from a mass of tiny decisions, accidents and experiments made over time. I think of my paintings as not just representing a landscape but my relationship with it and with painting, itself.
